About Us
Havaiki is the ancient name used to describe the legendary homeland of all Polynesians. It is the setting off point of the Polynesian canoes into the vast Pacific Ocean in search of faraway lands and new beginnings. Very much like the ancient Polynesians we undertook a sailing adventure of our own aboard Firebird, our 84’ ketch, in search of new lands and wonders. During our cruising, we collected an inventory of Oceanic art with the intentions of opening a gallery in Kauai, and making Kauai our permanent home.

In our hearts, in whatever small way we can, we would like to help Hawaiians, Polynesians and all the people of Oceania hold on to their customs, cultures and traditions through their art and history. We hope you view our shop as a very special place. Everything you see is full of mana and spirit, and rich cultural tradition. Most of these we collected personally from the artisans and carvers, who live in small villages as they did centuries ago, virtually untouched by the Western World.

If you have time and would like to know a little bit more about us and our sailing adventure, you can visit our web site. It is www.yachtfirebird.com. To see the photos and details of our trip, click on the Friends and Family page. Also please see our review from the Kauai Garden Island News and the Island Air HoloHolo Magazine.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our online gallery and be a part of the continuing effort to nurture the Pacific Island nation cultures, that have so inspired the world since the days of Captain Cook, and more importantly that shaped the peoples of the Pacific in their voyages of discovery.
