This is a finely rendered carving of the Pacific bottlenose dolphin (tursiops truncates). The rosewood (Pterocarpus indicus) is an exceptionally light shade and has pale streaks in the grain. The carving is mounted on a stand, displaying the graceful movement of the dolphin as it leaps out of the water.
