These masks are used during the annual Yam Harvest Festival. They are placed on individual yams of exceptional size in the farmer's display. The base is made of shaped rattan which is woven in meticulous form with vegetable fiber. This design is traditional with round eyes, a blade-like beak and a multi-colored crown. The coloration is done with haevy pigment pastes of black, grey, dull gold and brick red ochre.
