This mask is unusual because only a few of the features are distorted. The nose in particular is life-like. The ears are very small and the tongue is very large. The mask has bears clan designs done with paints made from natural pigments. Cowry shell eyes. Kept in the Haus Tambaran (men's house). (Note this not to be confused with a tambuan which is a dance mask with a costume, often with a full-body framework.)

Collected from Tambanum Village, Middle Sepik River, (Iatmul people)
